A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect from Saturday afternoon
through Saturday evening for all of deep south Texas except the
coastal portions of Cameron and Willacy County.

A powerful late season cold front will move through deep south
Texas during the daylight hours on Saturday. This front will be
accompanied by an abrupt wind shift to the northwest. These
northwest winds will increase to 20 to 30 miles per hour at the
surface area wide with higher gusts likely. 20 foot wind values
will be between 20 and 25 mph. The northwest flow will also
Transfer much drier air into the region... with relative humidity
values falling well below 40 percent... possibly as low as 25 to
30 percent... mainly west of Highway 281. These conditions will
combine to bring an elevated fire danger threat on Saturday.

A Fire Weather Watch means critical fire weather conditions are
forecast to occur. These conditions include the combination of
relative humidity below 35 percent for 2 hours or more and
sustained 20 foot winds of 25 mph or higher. Listen for later
forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
