... Coastal Flood Advisory now in effect until noon CST today...
The coastal Flood Advisory is now in effect until noon CST today.
Swells from Tropical Storm Ida are now arriving along the Upper Texas coastline. Unfortunately this is occurring at high Tide. Water levels along the Gulf facing shores are running between 3 and 3 1/2 feet. However... high wave run up from the surf is pushing over some low lying roads and also depositing some debris on them. This includes Highway 87 on the Bolivar Peninsula between Gilchrist and High Island... the Blue Water Highway and County Road 287 in Brazoria County.
The current water levels are expected to persist past sunrise... then begin subsiding by mid-morning as we move past high Tide. Water levels should subside quickly by midday as the effects from Ida wane across the area.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
