... Red flag warning in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...
The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a red
flag warning... which is in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening.
South to southwest winds will increase to 15 to 20 mph with gusts
between 20 and 30 mph this morning across south Texas during the
mid morning hours. The winds will turn southeast behind the sea
breeze boundary this afternoon across the coastal Bend... but
remain gusty. Dry and hot conditions will result in low relative
humidity values... dropping to between 15 and 30 percent across
inland counties... and between 25 and 40 percent along the coastal
counties by this afternoon.
A critical fire danger threat will occur today as a result of the
combination of these weather conditions and critically dry fuels
across the region.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Please advise the appropriate officials and fire crews in the
field of this red flag warning. In addition... residents are urged
to exercise extreme care during all outside activities that could
inadvertently cause wildfires. Avoid use of welding or grinding
equipment near weeds and grass. Avoid parking vehicles in tall...
dry grass and weeds that could be ignited by hot catalytic
converters. Do not toss cigarette Butts on the ground. Burn bans
are in effect for most of the counties in south Texas.
