... Perryton weather radio transmitter damaged...
The NOAA Weather Radio transmitter in Perryton /kjy88/ which operates on a frequency of 162.475 megahertz is currently working at less then full power.
The antenna has sustained damage and is operating on one of four elements. The resulting loss of signal strength has not affected the coverage area significantly... but has reduced the penetrating ability of the signal... meaning that reception inside structures may be adversely impacted.
A new antenna has been ordered and is expected to be installed by mid to late January. The Perryton NOAA Weather Radio will continue to operate on the weaker signal until repairs are completed.
