... Record breaking maximum temperatures for June and ongoing precipitation deficits... The drought conditions have continued to worsen across south Texas. Most of south Texas is now included in an exceptional drought area which is the highest level of drought classification. The very dry conditions combined with a dominating area of high pressure across the region have contributed to temperatures soaring well above normal values thus far this Summer. Corpus Christi International Airport tied or broke 10 record high temperatures in June and has already tied or broken 4 record highs in July. Victoria tied or broke 5 record highs in June and has tied or broken 4 more in July. Some additional climate rankings regarding the precipitation deficits and record breaking heat in the Corpus Christi and Victoria areas are included below. See the drought information statement (axus74) which will be released later this evening for more information on the ongoing south Texas drought. Corpus Christi (period of record 1887-2009)...
