Line of thunderstorms extends from Vernon Parish south into the coastal waters west of the Rockefeller wildlife Refuge with a large rain shield noted back into southeast Texas. This line is producing gusty winds...cloud to ground lightning...and periods of heavy rainfall. The line is beginning too slow it's eastward movement while the individual cells are lifting rapidly northward.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Neches River near town Bluff.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 11:16 am Sunday the stage was 68.4 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 64.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 73.0 feet by
Thursday morning then begin falling.
* Impact... at stages near 73.0 feet... flooding expected in the Mont
Neches, Barlow Lake and sheffields Ferry communities. Some homes
may become flooded as well, especially in the Barlow Lake
community.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Neches River at Rockland, Texas.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 900 am Sunday the stage was 27.8 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 26 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 28.8 feet by
Tuesday morning then begin falling.
* Impact... at 28.0 feet... water will begin to flood several secondary
roadways especially in the smith's Ferry community.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
the Neches River affecting...
northwestern Orange County in southeastern Texas...
east central Hardin County in southeastern Texas...
southern Jasper County in southeastern Texas...

* until 630 PM CDT Friday

* at 627 PM CDT... reporting gauges indicate reporting gauges indicated
minor flooding continues along the Neches River from near Weiss Bluff
to the saltwater barrier. The water levels are estimated to be near
14.2 feet and the latest reading at the saltwater barrier is near 4.5
feet. The river fall over the past 24 hours... mainly due to northerly
winds. Southerly winds along with continued high water on the Neches
will cause the river to rise back up to between 4.5 and 5 feet on
Saturday. In addition... heavy rainfall is forecast that will keep the
river above flood stage for the next several weeks.

These water levels will cause flooding to low lying communities along
the river in northwest Orange County from around Lake View to the
saltwater barrier.


* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lakeview and Weiss Bluff.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect from 9 am CDT this morning
through Tuesday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of Louisiana and Texas... including the following
areas... in Louisiana... Beauregard... Calcasieu... East Cameron...
   Vernon and West Cameron. In Texas... Hardin... Jefferson...
northern Jasper... northern Newton... Orange... southern Jasper...
   southern Newton and Tyler.

* From 9 am CDT this morning through Tuesday morning

* multiple rounds of heavy rain will fall on already saturated
ground in southeast Texas and west Louisiana. Area averages
are expected to range from 3 to 5 inches with isolated higher
amounts.

* Areas that see heavy rainfall within a short time could
receive flood water to depths that would impact property and
people in those areas. Area creeks... streams and rivers are
also likely to experience rises.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
