... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 am CDT this morning...
A Winter Weather Advisory for light snow remains in effect until 9 am CDT this morning.
A powerful upper level storm system will move across the region and bring light snow to area early this morning. Additional snowfall accumulations are expected to remain well below an inch... but locally higher amounts to over an inch can't be ruled out. In addition to the snow... strong northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph are likely today... which may result in periods of blowing snow and reduced visibilities.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow may cause a few slicks spots on elevated Road surfaces and overpasses that may result in travel difficulties. While Road surfaces will likely be too warm to collect snowfall... visibilities may be reduced to less than 1/2 mile at times. Use caution if traveling.

... Freezing temperatures likely tonight across much of North Texas...
A potent upper level storm system will continue to move over North Texas tonight bringing unseasonably cold Canadian air into the region in its wake. Low temperatures across North Texas by Sunday morning are expected to fall to freezing or just below. Areas west of Interstate 35 will likely see lows in the upper 20s. Areas along and north of Interstate 20... including the metroplex... will see lows dip to near 30 degrees. Areas east of Interstate 35 and south of Interstate 20 will see lows dip to right around freezing or possibly hold a degree or two above. These temperatures may cause damage to sensitive vegetation across North Texas. Residents are encouraged to take actions immediately to protect these plants as temperatures late this evening had already reached freezing at a few locations. Temperatures are expected to climb above freezing quickly Sunday after sunrise.
