... Cold temperatures and periods of snow today...
A cold Canadian airmass has settled over the South Plains region
of West Texas. This airmass will combine with an upper air storm
system to result in increasing chances for snow today and tonight.
The best chance for accumulating snowfall will be over the extreme
southwestern Panhandle and the western South Plains... where a
Winter Weather Advisory is currently in effect. However... periods
of snow and temperatures some 20 degrees below seasonal averages
will additionally impact the remainder of the South Plains region
today. Daytime temperatures will struggle to climb into the lower
and mid 30s for most locations... and isolated snow accumulations
approaching one inch will be possible for areas on The Caprock...
especially overnight when when temperatures will fall into the
teens and lower twenties.
Area residents should continue to monitor weather conditions... and
prepare for the possibility of hazardous winter travel developing.
