Forecast for Hudspeth
Updated: 3:21 am MDT on July 9, 2009
Today
Mostly sunny in the morning...then partly cloudy with a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 90s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph.
... Thunderstorms developing across south central and southwestern New Mexico and far West Texas this afternoon...
Moist and unstable air... combined with daytime heating... will allow scattered thunderstorms to develop across the area this afternoon and evening. These storms will move toward the north or northeast at around 10 mph. Locally heavy rainfall of one to two inches... hail up to 1/2 inch diameter... and strong gusty winds up to 50 mph are possible with these storms. Locally heavy rainfall could cause arroyos and normally dry stream beds in the area to overflow their banks and may cause flooding of low water crossings and other low lying areas.
These storms are not producing severe weather at this time but will be closely monitored for further development. Keep informed with NOAA Weather Radio... commercial radio... local television... or on the internet at srh.NOAA.Gov/elp
