Nowcast | as of 9:34 am CDT on August 29, 2014

Around mid morning...showers and a few embedded thunderstorms continued along a line from near Paris to Sulphur Springs to Athens to Thornton. This activity was slowly moving to the east and northeast at around 5 to 10 mph. Also...showers...and a few thunderstorms were noted near a line extending from Olney to Newcastle to Breckenridge. Otherwise...skies ranged from partly to mostly cloudy across most of northern and central Texas. Through the rest of this morning...showers and thunderstorms will continue to push eastward with the best chance of rain being east of a line from Paris to Sulphur Springs to Athens to Thornton. Showers and a few thunderstorms may also linger across portions of Young...Stephens...Jack...and Palo Pinto counties. The main threats with the stronger thunderstorms will be heavy rain...cloud to ground lightning...and gusty winds. Otherwise...skies should remain partly to mostly cloudy across most of north and central Texas.
