Precipitation will continue moving eastward as a strong upper level storm system moves across North Texas. The precipitation will decrease in intensity and areal coverage as the system moves east. Snow continues to fall in areas along Interstate 35. Wind advisories remain in effect throughout all of North Texas until 4 am. By this evening...as much as 8 inches of snow had fallen from Montague to Young with wind gusts over 40 mph. The visibility has been reduced to under 1/4 mile with blowing snow. Near blizzard conditions will be common within the Winter Storm Warning area...along and northwest of a line from Mineral Wells...to Denton...to Sherman. Additional accumulations will be lighter to the southeast within the Winter Weather Advisory...but motorists should be aware of very strong winds reducing the visibility...even where significant snowfall does not occur. A light dusting of snow will be possible in East Texas...to the south of the Winter Weather Advisory.

Strong northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with frequent gusts to 45 mph can be expected through the late night hours as a powerful winter storm continues to move east of the area.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of at least 20 to 30 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Residents may wish to take action to secure trash cans... lawn furniture... and other lightweight outdoor objects that may be blown around in the strong winds.
