Nowcast | as of 12:39 am CDT on May 24, 2015

Numerous showers with embedded thunderstorms containing heavy rainfall will track from the Interstate 35 corridor into eastern North Texas through 4 am. Locally heavy rainfall will likely produce flash flooding due to saturated soils. In addition... ongoing river flooding may increase through the morning hours across the area. Nighttime flooding can be life-threatening. If you come across flooded roads...especially moving water...turn around don't drown. Isolated severe storms could produce localized damaging downburst winds...along with an isolated tornado. Otherwise...expect mild and humid conditions with temperatures remaining in the mid 60s to lower 70s through 4 am.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in...
Hill County in central Texas...
Johnson County in north central Texas...

* until 430 am CDT

* at 131 am CDT... local law enforcement reported thunderstorms with
heavy rain over Whitney that has resulted in the flooding of
County roads. Radar indicates that up to one inch of rain has
already fallen... and another 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is
possible.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Mansfield... Burleson... Cleburne... Hillsboro... Keene... Joshua...
Alvarado... Venus... Whitney... Itasca... Grandview... Godley... Blum...
Covington... Cross Timber... Bynum... carl's Corner... Lake Whitney
State Park... Cleburne State Park and Rio Vista.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
