The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of west central Texas... including the following
areas... Brown... Callahan... Coleman... Concho... Crockett...
Haskell... Irion... Jones... Kimble... Mason... McCulloch...
Menard... Runnels... San Saba... Schleicher... Shackelford...
Sutton... Taylor... Throckmorton and Tom Green.

* Through 7 am Friday

* thunderstorms will produce locally heavy rainfall amounts of 1
to 3 inches.

* Heavy rainfall in a short period of time will result in flash
flooding of urban areas... low water crossings... and low lying
areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that heavy rainfall may lead to flash
flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

... Significant weather advisory effective until 615 PM CDT for
Shackelford... Taylor... Coleman... Callahan and Brown counties...

At 533 PM CDT... a strong thunderstorm was indicated by National
Weather Service Doppler radar 5 miles west of Cross Plains... or about
22 miles northeast of Coleman... moving northeast at 20 mph.

* The strong thunderstorm will be near...
Cross Plains and Rowden by 545 PM CDT
Cottonwood by 600 PM CDT
Admiral by 610 PM CDT
Atwell... Putnam and I-20 near the Callahan-Eastland County line by
615 PM CDT

Nickel size hail and wind gusts to 50 mph are likely with this storm.
Heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water on area roadways...
especially those in poor drainage areas. Residents are encouraged to
monitor the situation closely and be prepared to take the proper
actions should a warning be issued.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 800 PM CDT Thursday evening
for west central Texas. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch also remains in
effect until 1100 PM CDT Thursday evening for west central Texas.
