Nowcast | as of 10:48 am CDT on May 24, 2015

Widespread moderate to heavy rain and a few thunderstorms...east of a Sherman to Athens line...will continue to move east through midday....bring an end to the rain for a while. Where moderate to heavy rainfall occurs...generally Sulphur Springs to Paris...the additional run off will slow high water from receding. If you come across flooded roads...especially moving water...turn around don't drown. Another batch of showers and a few thunderstorms...along a Nocona to Stephenville to Gatesville line...will spread east and through a majority of the I-35 corridor through early afternoon. This will add to the existing high water problems. Areas that should be safe from rainfall through midday are locations generally south of a Lampasas to Centerville line...and south of a Waxahachie to Athens line.

Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 11:23 AM CDT on May 24, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* all of north central Texas.

* Through this evening

* showers and thunderstorms are possible through today. The soil
is already saturated... so any additional heavy rainfall will
cause flash flooding.

* Average rainfall of 1 to 3 inches has occurred. Up to an
additional one inch is possible today with lingering activity.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy
rain which may lead to flash flooding. You should monitor the
latest forecasts from the National Weather Service and be
prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued for
your area.
