Heat Advisory
Statement as of 2:53 PM CDT on July 12, 2009
... Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Monday...
A heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Monday.
The heat advisory area covers that part of North Texas along and
northeast of a Newcastle... Cleburne... Palestine line. Afternoon
heat index values are expected to peak between 105 to 108 degrees
on Monday. Nighttime temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s
will provide little relief for the heat.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
hot weather when the inside of vehicles can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes... despite cracking windows or
previously having used air conditioning.
Persons involved in vigorous outdoor activities are urged to take
frequent breaks and drink plenty of water. Wear loose fitting and
light colored clothing. Be sure to check on persons with health
problems and the elderly... as they are the most susceptible to
heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
