... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from noon Thursday to
6 PM CST Friday...
* timing... rain is expected to transition to freezing rain and
sleet Thursday afternoon and continue through Friday morning.
* Main impact... ice and sleet accumulations will create very
dangerous travel conditions on area roads... bridges and
overpasses. Significant travel impacts are possible and some
roadways may become impassable Thursday night through Friday
* Other impacts... ice accumulations may bring down trees and power
lines. Power outages may last for more than a day in some
* Accumulation... freezing rain or ice accumulation of a quarter to
around a half inch is expected. Sleet accumulation of up to one
half inch is possible.
a significant winter storm is forecast to occur. Preparations to
protect life and property should be completed by Thursday
afternoon. Prepare for the possibility of power outages and have
some non-perishable food and water on hand. Do not travel Thursday
night and Friday morning unless it is an emergency. If you must
travel... keep an extra blanket... flashlight... food... and water in
your vehicle in case you become stranded.
