A National Weather Service team surveyed storm damage in the Lake
Brownwood area today. The damage pattern indicated that a weak
tornado touched down at 1000 PM CDT near the Nichols ranch...
approximately 2 miles west northwest of Lake Brownwood State Park.
This is near the intersection of park Road 15 and County Road 455.
This tornado continued east for 5 minutes with the damage path
ending at Lake Brownwood at 1005 PM CDT. Widespread damage
occurred on the Nichols ranch... including significant damage to
the residence... farm outbuildings... and trees. Farther
east... damage was found at the north end of County Road 536.
Here... widespread damage to trees... homes... and boat docks was
surveyed. Maximum wind speeds were estimated at 105 mph... rating
this tornado as a strong EF-1.

Ef scale: the Enhanced Fujita scale classifies tornadoes into
the following categories.

EF0... weak... ... 65 to 85 mph
EF1... weak... ... 86 to 110 mph
EF2... strong... .111 to 135 mph
EF3... strong... .136 to 165 mph
EF4... violent... 166 to 200 mph
EF5... violent... >200 mph
