... Much colder temperatures and a chance of snow Wednesday
through early Thursday...

A potent upper level storm system will move across the Texas
Panhandle Wednesday afternoon and evening... with a strong cold
front plunging through the South Plains and rolling plains during
the evening hours. In the wake of the cold front... gusty
northwesterly winds will bring much colder air... with highs only
expected to climb into the 30s and lower 40s by Thursday.
Additionally... although the South Plains will only receive a
glancing blow from the storm system... it will still bring a chance
of snow to the area. Snow chances will first develop across the
southwest Texas Panhandle and northwest South Plains during the
day Wednesday... then spread southeastward across the remainder of
the South Plains and rolling plains during the evening and
overnight hours. Locations across the southern Texas Panhandle and
northern South Plains could potentially receive an inch or
two... with little or no accumulation currently anticipated farther
south and east. However... there is a potential for heavy snow and
blizzard conditions further to the north... into much of Kansas and
Nebraska and points north and east into this Holiday weekend.

Thus... those planning travel... especially to the north into the
panhandles and Central Plains over the coming days should monitor
the latest forecasts and plan accordingly.
