The National Weather Service in Amarillo has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
Potter County in the Panhandle of Texas...
Randall County in the Panhandle of Texas...

* until 800 am CDT

* at 456 am CDT... Amarillo/Potter/Randall emergency management
reported Playa Lake flooding in and around Amarillo. Measured
rainfall of 1 to 2 inches of rain has fallen over parts of the
warned area in the past 6 hours with additional light rain
possible through 8 am. The additional rainfall may cause
further rises of Playa Lakes already near capacity.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
canyon... Amarillo... Umbarger...
Palo Duro Canyon... Lake Tanglewood... valley de Oro...
Bushland... Timbercreek Canyon...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Playa Lake flooding is possible at the greenways playa... Lawrence
Lake... Willow Grove... and McCarty Lake. Martin Road Lake and Diamond
Horseshoe playa are at capacity. Do not drive through barricaded
roadways.

* Through this evening

* thunderstorms with heavy rain will be possible across the
Texas and Oklahoma panhandles through Saturday. The runoff
from the heavy rains will likely cause areas of flash
flooding.

* Flash flooding could impact travel. Fast flowing water can
sweep vehicles from roadways.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
