Brief moderate to heavy rain and strong gusty winds up to 35 mph can be expected with this line of showers. Rainfall will average less than one quarter inch per hour.

South to southwest winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts to around 60 mph at times can be expected... mainly over the higher elevations. The winds will diminish after midnight. Gusts to 40 mph or more will be possible over the lower elevations at times.

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph and/or gusts of 58 mph or higher can be expected at times. Winds of these magnitudes can cause property damage and power outages. Motorists should use caution... especially those in high profile vehicles.

At 952 PM EST... National Weather Service Doppler radar was tracking showers along a line extending from near Clintwood Virginia to Erwin Tennessee... moving northeast at 35 mph.
Winds around 40 mph are expected with these showers.
