Precautionary/preparedness actions...
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
The rainfall amounts listed below are listed by the County into which the rain falls, and then the Reservoir/Basin into which the water will flow after it hits the ground. For example, rain falling at McGhee-Tyson Airport will flow into Ft. Loudon-Tellico Lake.
These figures come from a combination of TVA, USGS, Coe, NWS, and various County-owned rain gauges. Our thanks to these cooperators.
