... The Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until
345 am EST for Greene... Carter... Unicoi... Johnson... Sullivan and
Washington counties...
At 1114 PM EST... areas of moderate rain continue to move across
northeast Tennessee. Radar is estimating between one to two and a
half inches has already fallen across much of the advisory area.
Remnants of Ida will continue to pull north across the region into
the night with additional rainfall of 1 inch possible. The
persistent rain and saturated soil may produce ponding of low lying
areas and small stream flooding.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.
Do not underestimate the power of flood waters. Only a few inches of
rapidly flowing water can quickly carry away your vehicle.
A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
