... The Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until
530 am EST for Russell... Washington... Scott... City of Bristol and
Hawkins counties...
At 407 am EST Doppler radar indicated moderate rainfall continuing
across northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia with rainfall
amounts of one quarter inch per hour and isolated areas of one half
inch or more. An additional half inch is possible in the next hour
or two.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.

... Record daily maximum rainfall set at the Tri-Cities regional Airport... A record rainfall of 1.37 inches was set in the Tri-Cities yesterday. This breaks the old record of 0.96 set in 1979.
