... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 9 PM this evening to
9 am CST Tuesday...
The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for sleet and snow... which is in effect
from 9 PM this evening to 9 am CST Tuesday.
* Timing... light sleet and snow beginning between 9 PM and 12 am.
Light snow continuing after midnight before ending by 6 am to 9
* Main impact... a dusting to 1 inch of snow accumulation
possible... with higher snow amounts east of I-65 and north of
* Other impacts... minor snow accumulation may cause hazardous
travel conditions especially on bridges and overpasses.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow may cause
travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited
visibilities... and use caution while driving.

... Wintry precipitation spreading northward across the mid state...
A mixture of rain... freezing rain and sleet is now moving
northward across the southern third of middle TN. As colder air
continues to move in... the precipitation will become more of a
sleet and freezing rain mixture. Across the northern areas of
middle TN... the precipitation will begin sometime between 11 PM
and 1 am. Snow will be the primary precipitation type with some
sleet as well.
Total ice accumulations of one tenth to one quarter of an inch can
be expected across southern middle TN and the Cumberland Plateau.
Elsewhere... across central and northern areas of the mid
state... around 1 inch of snow is possible. Across the far
northwestern non advisory areas... around one half inch of snow will
With temperatures dropping down into the mid to upper 20s by
sunrise... treacherous Road conditions are expected. Travel is not
recommended. The precipitation will end across eastern areas by
9 am Tuesday morning.
