The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a Blizzard Warning... which is in effect until noon CST Wednesday. The Winter Storm Warning has been cancelled.
Snow will continue across the area this afternoon and continue into tonight. The heaviest snowfall is expected through this evening ... With accumulating snowfall tapering off after midnight. Total snowfall accumulations of 7 to 11 inches are expected... with the heaviest amounts in the Sioux City to Storm Lake areas.
Strong northerly winds 20 to 35 mph will develop by this evening and continue into Wednesday morning. This will result in whiteout conditions in rural areas making travel hazardous. Wind chill values of 15 to 25 degrees below zero can be expected by Wednesday morning.
