... High Wind Warning in effect from 6 PM this evening to 5 am MDT
Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a High Wind
Warning... which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to 5 am MDT
Sunday.

* Timing... this evening through late tonight.

* Winds... winds will become northwest and increase to 30 to 40 mph
with gusts up to 60 mph.

* Impacts... high winds can blow down large trees... and damage
roofs... small outbuildings... and signs. Sudden wind gusts can
cause drivers to lose control... especially in lightweight or
high profile vehicles. Strong winds can cause blowing dust...
reduced visibility... and flying debris.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means 40 mph winds... or gusts over 60 mph...
are expected or occurring.






Air Quality Alert
Statement as of 3:04 AM MDT on March 28, 2015

... Air pollution alert for dust for Rapid City west of The Gap in
effect from 6 PM this evening until 5 am Sunday morning.

Northwest winds will increase early this evening to 30 to 45 mph
with gusts to 60 mph. The winds will decrease early Sunday
morning. The gusty winds will suspend fine dust in the air over
west Rapid City producing poor air quality.

The Rapid City air quality office recommends the
elderly... Young... and anyone with respiratory problems avoid
excessive physical exertion and exposure to the outside air.

Voluntary actions to reduce dust pollution include... ceasing or
reducing the manipulation of soil in
construction... Industrial... and agricultural activities... and
increasing the use of pollution controls for soil
stabilization... waste pits... stock piles... and construction
sites.
