A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 6 PM CST /5 PM MST/ Wednesday to 6 PM CST /5 PM MST/ Friday.
* Widespread snow will develop Wednesday afternoon... with snowfall intensity increasing during the day on Thursday. Snowfall will continue to accumulate through Friday.
* Snowfall amounts will range from 6 to 8 inches across central and north central South Dakota... 8 to 12 inches in the James Valley... and 10 to 14 inches across northeast South Dakota and west central Minnesota.
* Winds will increase to 20 to 35 mph by Thursday... with higher gusts possible. These strong northerly winds will continue into Friday.
* Intense snowfall rates of an inch or two an hour will be possible late Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon... especially for locations along and east of the Sisseton hills. By late Thursday... the snow will combine with strong northerly winds to create blowing snow and very low visibilities. Travel will be difficult at times.
