northwestern Lincoln County in southeastern South Dakota...

* until 1215 am CDT

* at 1009 PM CDT... light to moderate rain continues across the Sioux
Falls vicinity several miles either side of the Minnehaha and
Lincoln County line. If the heaviest rainfall remains south of the
warned area... then the warning will likely be able to expire at
1215 am.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Sioux Falls and Tea.

* Warning extended to allow the drainage systems time to catch up
with the excess water.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

952 PM CDT Thu Aug 27 2015

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1115 PM CDT for
southeastern Minnehaha County...

At 949 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicates that the rainfall has
weakened considerably in the warned area. Numerous reports of urban
flooding has been received. But it is anticipated that the heavy
rain will stay south and southwest of Sioux Falls at this point.
Therefore this will allow the drainage systems to catch up and
evacuate the excess water. Be aware though... that even though the
heavy rain appears to have ended... many low lying and poor drainage
areas will have deep water issues for the next couple of hours.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Sioux Falls and Brandon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Do not enter or cross flowing water or water of unknown depth.

913 PM CDT Thu Aug 27 2015

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1015 PM CDT for
south central Minnehaha and northwestern Lincoln counties...

At 909 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Sioux Falls... Tea and Harrisburg.

A break is occurring in the heavy rain during the mid evening... but
more rain is developing west to southwest which could certainly
impact the warned area. Therefore depending on what this next round
of storms does... the Flash Flood Warning may need to be extended in
time.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Do not enter or cross flowing water or water of unknown depth.
