Wind Chill Advisory
Statement as of 3:33 AM CST on December 11, 2013
... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 10 am CST this
* wind and visibility... northwest winds will average 5 to 15
mph... except 15 to 25 mph through daybreak in much of northwest
Iowa. With temperatures dropping to below zero... this will
cause bitterly cold wind chills.
* Wind chill values... wind chill values will bottom out at 20 to
30 below zero during the early morning. Wind chills will improve
late this morning.
A Wind Chill Advisory is issued when a strong wind will combine
with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for
exposed skin. The wind will make it feel like it is 20 degrees
below zero or colder for a period of several hours. Those
planning to venture outdoors should dress warmly... making sure
that all exposed skin is covered.
