...Record monthly and Summer rainfall in Sioux City Iowa...

The August monthly rainfall total at the Airport in Sioux City was 10.12 inches. This breaks the previous monthly record of 9.07 inches which was set in 2007.

The Summer rainfall...which includes June...July and August...was 30.38 inches at the Airport in Sioux City. This breaks the previous Summer record of 20.13 inches...which was set in 2010. This Summer also included 2 of the 4 wettest months since records began at Sioux City in 1889. June was the wettest month on record...with August the 4th wettest.

Subject:discontinuation of the regional weather summary by the NWS weather forecast office (wfo) in Sioux Falls SD effective October 1 2014

Effective Wednesday October 1 2014...at 1000 coordinated Universal time (utc) the NWS in Sioux Falls will discontinue the production of the regional weather summary for South Dakota because equivalent information is available in other products.

Summary information can be found in the area forecast discussion (afd)...weather story...and top news of the day on the NWS Sioux Falls web Page. Climatological information that was included in the rws can be found online as well.
