Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 3:00 PM CST on November 30, 2015

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until midnight CST
Tuesday night...

* timing... moderate to heavy snow is expected to continue north of
Interstate 90 through the early evening. Further south... snow
may become more intermittent and may mix with drizzle at
times... but will continue through Tuesday.

* Snow accumulations... additional snow accumulations of 4 to 8
inches are possible in Brookings and Marshall. Lower amounts are
expected further south... with 3 to 6 inches of snow along the
Interstate 90 corridor... and 2 to 4 inches of snow in Sioux City
and Storm Lake.

* Wind and visibility... wind speeds will range from 5 to 15 mph
through tonight. Northwest winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph
Tuesday. Falling snow will reduce visibility to less than a
half mile at times.

* Impacts... heavy snow may lead to snow covered roads through the
overnight hours. The increasing winds will also lead to areas
of drifting snow Tuesday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

A record snowfall of 5.4 inches was set at Sioux City IA today. This
breaks the old record of 5.3 set in 1981.
