Lake Wind Advisory
Statement as of 3:01 AM EST on November 13, 2009
... Lake Wind Advisory now in effect until 4 PM EST this afternoon
for Lake Moultrie...
The lake Wind Advisory is now in effect until 4 PM EST this
afternoon for Lake Moultrie.
Strong low pressure near the Outer Banks of North Carolina and
high pressure to the west will maintain gusty winds and rough
boating conditions on Lake Moultrie through late this afternoon.
North to northwest winds will continue around 20 knots... with
frequent higher gusts through the middle of this afternoon... before
dropping to 15 to 20 knots late in the day.
In addition... waves will generally reach up to 2 feet... highest
across the central and southern waters of the lake.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Mariners should use extra caution on Lake Moultrie... especially
on the Open Lake waters. Strong winds may lead to large waves
which can capsize boats.
