Statement as of 6:54 PM EST on November 11, 2009 ... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 am EST Thursday... A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 am EST Thursday for parts of the Piedmont of the Carolinas and extreme northeast Georgia. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph... with gusts as high as 40 mph... will continue through tonight across the Piedmont and much of the foothills of the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia. These gusty winds... combined with saturated soil from the recent heavy rain... will likely cause a number of trees to become uprooted across the advisory area. Precautionary/preparedness actions... This Wind Advisory has been issued because gusty winds are expected to cause quite a few trees to fall due to saturated soil. This may result in scattered power outages.

Statement as of 4:33 PM EST on November 11, 2009 ... Record daily maximum rainfall set at Greenville-Spartanburg SC... A record rainfall of 2.10 inches fell at the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport today. This breaks the old record of 1.78 set in 1919. With additional rainfall likely... the total for the day will increase. Another statement will be issued after midnight with the updated total.
