... Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9 am EST this
morning...
Tide levels are running around 1.0 to 1.5 feet above normal due
to a strong coastal storm off the North Carolina coast. As we
approach high tide between 500 am and 530 am this morning... minor
coastal flooding will develop at the beaches... along the
Intracoastal Waterway... and in tidal creeks and marshes. High tide
will occur between 630 am and 830 am in the the tidal portions of
rivers.
Water levels will reach coastal flooding criteria at the time of
high tide... producing minor salt water flooding in many coastal
locations susceptible to high water. Conditions will be worst
along the North Carolina coast north of Cape Fear. High water can
also be expected along tidal portions of the Cape Fear River
possibly affecting downtown Wilmington.
Vehicles parked in flood prone locations should be moved to
higher ground to prevent potentially costly property damage. Low
elevation streets near beaches... marshes and rivers may become
impassible due to high water. Be especially careful at night when
it is more difficult to judge the depth of the water.
