Statement as of 8:39 PM EST on November 12, 2009 ... Wind Advisory now in effect until 6 am EST Friday... The Wind Advisory is now in effect until 6 am EST Friday. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph... with gusts as high as 35 mph... will continue through tonight across the Piedmont of North Carolina... and the eastern South Carolina Piedmont. These gusty winds... combined with saturated soil from the recent heavy rain... will continue to cause trees to become uprooted across the advisory area. Precautionary/preparedness actions... This Wind Advisory has been issued because gusty winds are expected to cause quite a few trees to fall due to saturated soil. This may result in scattered power outages. 07

Statement as of 1:58 am EST on November 12, 2009 ... Record daily maximum rainfall set at Greenville-Spartanburg SC... A record rainfall of 2.10 inches fell at the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport on Wednesday. This breaks the old record of 1.78 inches set in 1919 on November 11.
