Flood Warning
Statement as of 7:10 PM EST on November 11, 2009
The Flood Warning continues for
the Congaree River at Carolina Eastman.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 7 PM Wednesday the stage was 115.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 115.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 121.2 feet
early Saturday morning.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 121.2
feet on Oct 10 2005.
710 PM EST Wed Nov 11 2009
The Flood Warning extended for
the Congaree River at Sandy Run.
* From Thursday afternoon to Monday morning... or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 7 PM Wednesday the stage was 18.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon
and crest around 23.9 feet early Saturday morning.
The river will fall below flood stage by Sunday November 15.
* At 24.0 feet... several homes in the Sandy Run subdivision along the
river become flooded.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 23.9 feet
on Mar 31 2005.
Flood Advisory
Statement as of 12:17 PM EST on November 11, 2009
The Flood Advisory continues for the Congaree River at Columbia. * Until Friday morning. * At 11 am Wednesday the stage was 8.2 feet. * Flood stage is 19.0 feet. * Forecast... the river will rise to crest at 17.8 feet Friday evening. * Advisory stage is 10.0 feet. * At 19.0 feet... extensive swampland and large areas of farmland and pasture land downstream from Columbia become flooded. The river walk in West Columbia and Cayce begins to flood at 10 feet.

Statement as of 11:14 AM EST on November 11, 2009
... Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM EST
Thursday...
A lake Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM EST Thursday.
Low pressure near the coast will bring northeast to north winds
of 15 to 25 knots... along with higher gusts through Thursday.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats and personal watercraft will be
especially prone to capsizing.
