... Coastal Flood Advisory now in effect until 11 am EST this morning...
Minor coastal flooding will develop around the time of high tide this morning... affecting low-lying areas at the beaches... near marshes and tidal creeks... and also along tidal portions of rivers. High tide will occur at the beaches around 600 am... and along the Cape Fear River at downtown Wilmington around 800 am.
Water will rise into yards... streets and driveways in areas that only rarely experience flooding without a storm. Vehicles parked in these flood-prone areas should be moved to higher ground. If traveling this morning... pay close attention for water covering the Road. Never drive through water of uncertain depth.
The coastal flooding is being caused by high astronomical tides from the new moon... combined with storm surge from low pressure well offshore. Another round of minor coastal flooding may occur Monday morning around the time of high tide.
