... Lake Wind Advisory in effect from 10 am this morning to 10 am EST Saturday...
The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a lake Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 10 am this morning to 10 am EST Saturday.
A deepening low pressure system will move across the Gulf Coast states today and up the Carolina coast on Saturday. This will result in a strong pressure gradient across the area and winds over area lakes are expected to increase to 15 to 25 knots late this morning. The strong winds will continue through the overnight hours and begin to relax on Saturday as the low pressure system moves away from the area. Some wind gusts could reach 30 knots.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop on area lakes. Small boats and personal watercraft will be especially prone to capsizing.
