Lake Wind Advisory | |

Statement as of 3:07 PM EST on December 08, 2009 ... Lake Wind Advisory in effect from 6 am to 9 PM EST Wednesday... The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a lake Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 6 am to 9 PM EST Wednesday. Winds across area lakes are expected to increase Wednesday morning ahead of an approaching cold front. Winds speeds will be between 15 and 25 knots... with gusts of up to 35 knots being possible. Boaters on area lakes will need to take extra precautions if out boating due to the expected increase in wave activity and height. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop on area lakes. Small boats and personal watercraft will be especially prone to capsizing. |
