Weather Underground midday recap for Thursday, November 26, 2009.

A storm system in the Great Lakes region remained nearly stationary on Thanksgiving Day and continued to produce scattered light rain and snow showers over parts of the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. The associated cold front approached the Central Appalachians later in the day and aided in producing some mix precipitation. Apart from the precipitation, cold Canadian air behind the storm system sagged southward across the Upper Midwest Thursday, which brought a colder day to the region. Highs were mainly in the 30s.

In the southeastern corner of the nation, a nearly stationary front supported scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms through the morning hours in southern Florida. As the front moved offshore in the afternoon, showers and thunderstorms decreased and temperatures started to drop.

Out West, a Pacific cold front moved ashore early Thursday and continued to advance southeastward across Washington and northwestern Oregon. This system brought much cooler air to the region and produced light to moderate rain. The southern portion of the front reached northern California in the afternoon, with middle to high level clouds. The rest of the West experienced a beautiful Thanksgiving Day as the ridge of high pressure in the Great Basin held in place.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Thursday have ranged from a morning low of 1 degrees at Kremmling, Colo. to a midday high of 84 degrees at Camarillo, Calif.
