Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, November 27, 2009.

The low pressure system off the New England Coast will slowly lift northeast Friday. Expect rain and higher elevation snow to persist across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Appalachians Friday. Moderate to heavy snow will be possible for the extreme northern New England, with over 6 inches of snow. Cool and blustery conditions are expected as well through Saturday.

Out West, the storm system that moved ashore Thursday will continue to sag southward across California and eastward across the northern states Friday. Widespread rain and mountain snow showers are forecast for California and portions of the Intermountain West Friday. Due to lack of moisture from the Pacific, precipitation should remain mainly on the light side. In addition, winds are expected to pick up a bit Friday night and Saturday in the hills and mountains as the associated cold front moves through and a strong ridge of high pressure builds over the Four Corners.

Moving to the middle of the nation, unseasonably warm and dry weather is in store for the Central and Northern Plains Friday ahead of the approaching storm system. Much colder temperatures with precipitation are expected Friday night into Saturday as a cold front pushes through.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Thursday ranged from a low of 8 degrees at Kremmling, Colo. to a high of 89 degrees at Santa Ana, Calif.
