Winter Storm Warning | |

Statement as of 12:47 PM EST on December 25, 2009 ... Winter Storm Warning now in effect until 4 PM EST this afternoon... The Winter Storm Warning is now in effect until 4 PM EST this afternoon. The National Weather Service says that freezing rain will continue early this afternoon. One half inch of ice accumulation is possible. This can result in untreated surfaces becoming icy and hazardous. Winds gusting over 30 mph can add to the icing hazard by making ice laden trees limbs and power lines vulnerable to snapping. By late afternoon temperatures should warm above freezing for all the precipitation to change to rain. A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of ice accumulation are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible. Report your ice accumulations to the National Weather Service by calling toll free... 1-877-633-6772. |

With icy conditions possible today... the strong winds will add to the threat of downed trees and power lines. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory means that wind gusts greater than 45 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. |
