Statement as of 7:44 PM EDT on July 11, 2009 ... Strong thunderstorms will affect eastern Snyder... Montour... northern Dauphin... northern Lebanon... Northumberland... southern Columbia and southwestern Schuylkill counties through 845 PM EDT... At 743 PM EDT... strong thunderstorms were along a line from Danville to Selinsgrove to Harrisburg... moving east at 30 mph. Wind gusts to 45 mph and hail up to one half of an inch in diameter are possible with these storms. Very heavy rain of up to one inch will fall from these storms... and will cause water to pond on roads and quickly fill roadside ditches and some small streams. Expect intense lightning from these storms. Do not stay in the open nor seek shelter under trees when lightning threatens... move indoors when a thunderstorm approaches. These storms will be near Jerseytown around 800 PM... Orangeville around 815 PM and Ferndale around 830 PM. This will impact the following central Pennsylvania interstates... I-78 between mile markers 0 and 8... I-80 between mile markers 217 and 244... I-81 between mile markers 76 and 110. Lat... Strong thunderstorms will affect northern Schuylkill County... At 729 PM EDT... several strong thunderstorms were along a line from Tamaqua to Mahanoy City to Kulpmont... moving east at 20 mph. Wind gusts to 45 mph and pea-sized hail are possible with these storms. Very heavy rain will fall from these storms... and will cause water to pond on roads and quickly fill roadside ditches and some small streams. Expect occasional... dangerous cloud to ground lightning from these storms. Do not stay in the open nor seek shelter under trees when lightning threatens... move indoors when a thunderstorm approaches. These storms will be near Joe zerbey Airport around 740 PM... Tamaqua... and Coaldale around 745 PM... Tuscarora around 755 PM... St. Clair around 810 PM... Port Carbon around 815 PM and New Philadelphia around 820 PM.
