Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 10:35 PM EST on February 09, 2010
... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 am EST
Thursday...
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 am EST Thursday.
Precipitation type... snow.
Accumulations... 8 to 12 inches... locally higher amounts to 15
inches possible in the Poconos.
Timing... overnight through Wednesday evening.
Temperatures... temperatures will stay mainly between 25 and
30 degrees throughout the event... from onset time this evening...
all the way to the time snow tapers off Wednesday night.
Winds... easterly 5 to 10 mph tonight... becoming northwest and
increasing to 15 to 25 mph Wednesday afternoon and evening. Gusts
of 30 to 40 mph are possible Wednesday evening.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
