Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 2:51 PM EDT on March 31, 2015

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this
evening...

* locations... middle Susquehanna valley and north central
mountains.

* Hazard types... wet snow.

* Snow accumulations... ranging from around 2 inches throughout
the middle Susquehanna valley... to 4 or 5 inches across the
higher terrain.

* Timing... accumulating snow will decrease in coverage through the
mid afternoon hours and then come to an end by early evening.

* Impacts... isolated power outages due to the weight of the wet
snow on trees... which could be snapped and fall onto utility
lines. Untreated roads could become slushy during periods of
moderate to heavy snow.

* Winds... mainly light and variable.

* Temperatures... ranging from the mid 30s across the higher
elevations... to near 40 degrees for a late day high in the
Susquehanna valley.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Hazardous winter weather conditions are expected or occurring.

... A record daily maximum snowfall was set at Williamsport...

A snowfall measurement of 4.2 inches taken at 5 PM set a daily
snowfall record at Williamsport today. The previous record
was 3.1 inches set in 1961.

A continuous weather record has been kept at Williamsport since 1895.
