Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 4:49 PM PST on November 16, 2009
... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 6 am to 2 PM PST
Tuesday for the north and central Oregon Cascades and the South
Washington Cascades...
The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 6 am to 2 PM
PST Tuesday.
A strong front will move through the Cascades Tuesday morning and
quickly drop the snow level down to near 3000 feet. The quick drop
in snow level will come before the precipitation stops and thus
accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are expected by early afternoon
with up to a foot or more at higher elevations and ski resorts.
Precipitation should turn to showers by mid afternoon with some
lighter accumulations expected.
A second weaker wave will move through Wednesday morning and may
bring another dose of snow to the mountains.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
