High Wind Watch
Statement as of 3:59 AM PST on November 15, 2009
... High wind watch in effect from late this evening through
Tuesday morning for the South Washington and north Oregon
coasts...
The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a high wind
watch... which is in effect from late this evening through Tuesday
morning.
South winds will increase to 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph
later tonight and Monday morning. Stronger winds are expected
Monday afternoon and evening as south winds increase to 35 to 45
mph with gusts to 75 mph. Winds will be strongest near beaches
and headlands. The winds will begin to decrease late Monday night
and Tuesday morning.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph... or gusts of
58 mph or stronger may occur. Continue to monitor the latest
forecasts.
