... Cold windy weather with possible snow Friday and Saturday...
An upper level trough of low pressure from the Gulf of Alaska will
move into eastern Oregon Thursday and northern Nevada Friday. It
will bring strong northwest surface winds and much colder air to
our area. The snow level will fall to 3500 feet Friday night and
a rain/snow mix is even possible down to the lowest valley floors.
Sustained northwest winds may reach 30 to 40 mph Friday with
gusts to 50 mph in eastern Oregon and southwest Idaho. On Saturday
the upper low is expected to move from Nevada to Utah and strongest
winds will focus on south-central Idaho.
Moisture rotating around the upper low is forecast into south-
central Idaho Friday afternoon and night. With temperatures in the
lower to mid 30s an accumulating snowfall may occur in the western
Magic Valley and southern Twin Falls County.
The cold low pressure system is forecast to remain close by in
eastern Idaho Saturday night and Sunday before exiting via Wyoming
Sunday night. Sunday will still be cold and breezy but the main
part of the storm will be east of US by then. Decreasing winds
and moderating temperatures are expected Monday.

... Unseasonably cold system moving into the region...
A strong low pressure system will move into the intermountain
region Thursday night. This storm is forecast to bring rain and
snow showers... unseasonably cool temperatures... and gusty winds
to southeast Oregon and southwest Idaho through the weekend.
Expect Friday and Saturday night temperatures to be at or
below freezing throughout lower valleys. Snow levels will drop
dramatically by Friday night... with snow showers possible at
lowest elevations and light snow accumulations likely above 5000
feet. High temperatures will average 15 degrees below October
normals and gusty northwest winds will add to the chill.
