... Heat advisory remains in effect until midnight PDT Wednesday
night for the north and central Willamette Valley including the
Portland Metro area... the western and central Columbia River
gorge... and the Upper Hood River Valley... ...

A heat advisory remains in effect until midnight PDT Wednesday
night.

* High temperatures: generally in the lower to mid 90s. Hottest
time of the day will be 1 PM to 6 PM.

* Locations include: ODell... Salem... McMinnville... Hillsboro...
Portland... Oregon City... Gresham... Vancouver... Battle
Ground... Washougal

* impacts: take care not to over exert during the heat of the
day... and to stay hydrated with clear liquids. Automobiles
can heat up rapidly to temperatures harmful or even deadly
to pets and children. Use caution near area rivers... be
water smart... wear a life jacket and use good judgment.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible... reschedule strenuous activities to early morning. Know
the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear
light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink
plenty of water.

To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency... call 9 1 1.
