Statement as of 4:29 AM CDT on July 10, 2009 ... Heat advisory in effect until 9 PM CDT Sunday... The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a heat advisory... which is in effect until 9 PM CDT Sunday. Afternoon high temperatures will climb to near 105 or above today through Sunday. Afternoon heat index values will reach 105 to 110. Early morning temperatures will only fall into the mid and upper 70s. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. Hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of water... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors.
